AI and the Future of Photography

AI and Photography - Model: Suze Q

Lately, there has been a lot of discussion about the impact of AI on artists, including photographers. After several iterations with ChatGPT, you will find my artificially produced opinion below. It does not reflect my personal views on the topic, but it at least sounds reasonable, right?

What the AI Said

As a photographer, I take pride in the craft of capturing moments and creating art that is unique to each client. While some photographers choose to use AI to enhance their images, I believe in using the tools that have been available to photographers for years, such as Photoshop and other editing software.

Through the use of these traditional tools, I can adjust color, contrast, and other technical aspects of the image to create the final product that my clients desire. I also believe in taking the time to carefully compose and frame each shot, ensuring that every detail is perfect before even touching the editing software.

While AI can enhance certain aspects of an image, I believe that the human eye and touch are still essential to creating art that captures the true essence of a moment. By using my own creativity and expertise, I can create images that are truly one-of-a-kind and unique to each client’s needs.

Furthermore, the use of AI to replace photographers entirely is unlikely. Developing AI that could replace a professional photographer would require a significant investment of time and resources. Even if such technology were developed, it would be difficult to replicate the unique vision and style that each photographer brings to their work.

In conclusion, while AI may be a useful tool for some photographers, I choose to rely on the traditional tools that have been available to photographers for years. Through careful composition and editing, I can create images that are truly unique to each client’s needs, capturing the essence of each moment in a way that AI cannot replicate.

My Rebuttal

I consistently asked the AI to avoid using the phrase “in conclusion”, yet there it is. The trick is getting the prompt right. It will be finicky and even forgetful if you are not constantly telling it what you want. The text above was the eighth attempt.

Truth be told, most photographers have been using AI of various sorts for years. The “problem” now is that people have an option to bypass the photographer altogether. But do they? When the AI empowers you to be your own, beautiful self, let me know.
