A lot of oddball stuff to be honest. Recently, thanks to a lack of opportunities to work with models, I have been falling back into painting miniatures. I&#8217;ve been doing it (poorly) since I was a pre-teen. It can be a relaxing pastime, but it has also fed other interests. <\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"teaching-history\">Teaching History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>I went to college with the idea of becoming a history teacher. I love history and it just made sense to share that passion with others. Those efforts didn&#8217;t work out for me. Let&#8217;s just say that the system was &#8220;unfavorable&#8221; and I moved on to other things. I still love history and share what I know when applicable, but I have lost the desire to teach in the classroom, especially in today&#8217;s over-politicized environment.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"gaming-history\">Gaming History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>My passion for table top gaming has fed my thirst for history. For many years, I was painting 15mm scale soldiers and meeting a lot of wonderful, like-minded people playing <a href=\"https:\/\/www.flamesofwar.com\/\">Flames of War<\/a>. For me, the biggest draw was identifying a unique combat unit that fought during World War II and studying it as much as I could. I would then paint up models to represent them on the tabletop. I was never a great player, but I learned a lot of details that are rarely mentioned in the usual text books.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"painting-history\">Painting History<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>More recently, I have returned to my role-playing roots. I was introduced to <a href=\"https:\/\/dnd.wizards.com\/\">Dungeons and Dragons<\/a> at a very young age. The so-called &#8220;Satanic Panic&#8221; was in full effect and it was years before I would feel free to mention I played. Fortunately, my mother&#8217;s wisdom taught me that anything can be evil if you allow to be. Dungeons and Dragons is no more satanic than Monopoly and, if I had to guess, far more tables have been flipped in rage for the latter.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>Part of my love for D&amp;D is painting miniatures that we often use on the tabletop to help us visualize what is happening. As I paint, I tend to turn on movies or historical documentaries. It is a great way to combine my various passions and relax.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"what-about-you\">What About You?<\/h2>\n\n\n\n<p>What are your passions?
