Twenty-five months ago, I was at the inaugural ClickCon photography conference in Chicago. While there, I got to connect with mentors, favorite photographers, and a new city. It was fun, enlightening, and invigorating. After another “down” in a rollercoaster ride that had been on a bit of a decline, it felt like I was about to crest “the big hill”. Twenty months ago, things were slowing down as things started going sideways. Finally, eighteen months ago, we found ourselves at “two weeks to flatten the curve”. In terms of creative photo shoots (and virtually everything else), everything shut down except work, sleep, and being restless.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
I don’t think I’m stepping out on a limb when I guess that I’m not alone. You have spent a lot of time being restless, too. Odds are pretty good that we can relate on at least a desire to get back to some semblance of normal. For me, that means a healthy dose of photographic creativity. <\/p>\n\n\n\n
I need to refill that prescription.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There was a time when I found it easier to escape being restless. I’d routinely travel to beautiful places like that tree-lined road at the top. Nature is fascinating. I’ve been fortunate to get a way for a couple of weeks this summer. But it isn’t enough. With work calling, it isn’t going to be easy to get away again for a bit. Don’t worry, I have travel plans, but they are a few months off.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
There are two things I am getting worse at as I get older: Forgetting names and repeating myself. If you feel I’ve forgotten you, it’s likely just my addled brain needing a bit of friendly jostling. On the other hand, I think this is one time I need to repeat myself, so a refrain from my last post follows.<\/p>\n\n\n\n
